Local robotics club prepares for competition

Members of the Busy Bees 4-H Club have been honing their skills in robotics for several months in preparation for competition.
They will compete this Saturday, Feb. 4, in the FIRST LEGO League regional qualifier tournament at Henderson which will determine whether they qualify for state competition.
The Busy Bees team nearly made it to state last year, and they are determined to make it all the way this year.
They have been giving practice demonstrations for local sponsoring businesses, and last Friday they were demonstrating at Applied Connective Technologies in Albion.
Team members use their STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skills to program LEGO robots to perform certain required tasks in a timed competition on a game board. Sponsors have helped the team purchase their equipment, including computers to program the robots.
