Boone Central will not renew sports co-op after next year

Boone Central School Board voted Monday night not to renew the current sports cooperative agreement with Newman Grove Public School after next year (2023-24).
The co-op is a two-year agreement so it will continue through the remainder of this school year and all of next school year. The high school sports co-op has been in place since the 2012-13 school year.
The action was taken after a report on recent co-op committee meetings by board member Dustin Frey. He said the committee has considered this action over time and received input from many people involved.
“We felt the program has provided positive benefits for both schools through the years, but at this point it would be best for Boone Central to end the agreement and go on its own after next year,” Frey said.“We wanted to have a decision made as early as possible so there is plenty of time for both schools to make the decisions they feel are necessary.”
