Boone Central snuffs Warriors, heads to postseason with 5 game win streak

Crofton had already lost a 71-35 decision to Boone Central in the Mid-State Conference tournament. The Warriors knew what they faced – they just couldn’t do anything about it.
The rematch resembled an ornery cat toying with a helpless mouse.
With hyperactive full-court pressure defense and unrelenting high-speed offensive pace, Boone dashed to leads of 15-0 and 20-2, simply overwhelming outmanned Crofton (5-18) in a 67-24 victory at Albion Friday.
With the win, Boone Central concluded the 2022-23 regular season 17-6 and took a five-game win streak into a first-round game vs. O’Neill (16-6) in the C1-7 Sub-District postseason tournament Tuesday night at Pierce. Boone was looking to turn the tables on the Eagles, who previously won 63-56 and 74-73 (OT) decisions over BC.
Friday’s contest was not any type of nailbiter at any time. Ryan Drueppel hit a pair of 3-point buckets and scored 10 first-quarter points, and Trent Patzel added eight from the paint as Boone Central took a 25-4 lead over Crofton. With eight Cardinals scoring, the halftime advantage mounted to 47-8.
