Another sun dog brightens day

Weather conditions have made this an ideal winter for viewing “sun dogs” in the morning sky.
This was another brilliant sun dog noticed by area residents last Thursday morning, Feb. 23.
Sun dogs are an atmospheric optical phenomenon, caused by a reflection of sunlight through ice crystals in the atmosphere. There are bright spots flanking the sun within a 22 degree halo.
