Four Boone Central athletes were chosen to receive 2022-23 postseason awards by Mid-State Conference basketball coaches in recent league voting.
Cardinal senior Alex Christo was selected for the Mid-State All-Conference first team, with junior Trent Patzel receiving Mid-State Honorable Mention.
The Lady Cardinals did not have any first team selections, but seniors Macy Rankin and Mara Ranslem received Mid-State Honorable Mention.
Christo had a banner senior campaign, leading Boone Central to a 17-7 season record. He joined the Cardinal 1,000 point club and also finished as Boone Central’s all-time career assist leader while averaging 14.5 points, 4.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds and nearly 2 steals per contest in 2022-23. Patzel was the Cardinals’ anchor in the paint this past season, averaging 12.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
Rankin led the Boone Central girls with 10.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, shooting 46% on field goal attempts and 53% at the free throw line. Ranslem capped her Card career averaging 5.5 points and 2.8 assists in ‘22-23.
