Mentors and mentees in the Boone Central TeamMates program gathered for their annual banquet Sunday evening, April 25, and celebrated many successes.
“You Make a Difference,” was the banquet theme. Keynote speaker Alexa Nelson touched on examples of how students and adults can make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Roger Gentrup, TeamMates chapter president, welcomed the many mentors and mentees, as well as family and friends. Entertainment was provided by Dyanna Buettner.
The chapter history, read by 23-year founding mentor Carolyn Gray, outlined the chapter’s growth since its founding in 2001 with three mentor/mentee pairs.
This year, the chapter has grown to 63 mentor/mentee matches and has grown each year since 2016. Gray cited great support from the community as a primary reason for the growth.
President Gentrup recognized the coordinators for their service. They will be stepping down after this school year. He announced that Kris Schrad, a TeamMates mentor, will take over as the program coordinator next year.
