Card golfers head west for West Holt Invite

The Boone Central girls golf team headed west Thursday to compete in the West Holt Invitational at the Atkinson/Stuart Country Club.
On a difficult layout, under breezy conditions, the Cardinals placed sixth in the 11-team field of teams with an 18-hole score of 458. O’Neill (410) edged host West Holt (412) to win the team championship, followed by Pierce (436) and Valentine (442).
Senior Taylor Beierman paced Boone Central, placing fourth in the medalist standings with a 94.
“The Atkinson/Stuart Country Club is not an easy golf course. There are a variety of penalty areas that can be difficult to maneuver through, and the wind presented some additional challenges,” noted Cardinal Coach Amy Allgood. “The girls did a good job of taking it one shot at a time and bouncing back from the adversity they faced. We’re going to continue working hard to minimize the big numbers and lessen the amount of strokes we are taking around the greens.”

Boone Central results:
Taylor Beierman (4th) 94, Cassidy Maricle (17th) 114, Katie Lueken (26th) 120, Britney Naber (36th) 130, Katelyn Krohn (43rd) 141.
