Cardinal softball team builds momentum for conference, district

The Boone Central Cardinals extended their current win streak to five games this past week, giving them 16 victories in their last 19 contests. The Cards also had an eight-game victory streak earlier in the season.
Boone topped the Blue River Panthers, Ord Chanticleers and Cuming County Cadets during the week, scoring at least nine runs in each contest.
“The girls continue to take care of business at the plate, scoring 35 runs last week … Averie Luettel picked up a victory with a strong outing, while Mazie Beister came away with two wins, including a Senior Night shutout,” Boone Central Coach Miles Ray commented. “Payton Sullivan broke the single-season school home run record. Payton tied the record Tuesday and set the new record of 10 Thursday. Kali Simons had a big week at the plate, as well, hitting two home runs of her own.
“We have a competitive week coming up and the girls are looking forward to the challenges ahead. They are playing some of their best ball of the season as we approach conference and district tournament play.”
