Private family graveside services for Brian L. “Buzz” Stewart, 62, formerly of Albion, with inurnment will take place at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Albion, at a later date. Brian Lynn Stewart, son of Keith M. and Rosamond A. “Rosie” (Mannlein) Stewart, was born October 5, 1961 at Albion, and he died Friday, June 28, 2024 at Genoa Community Long Term Care in Genoa. He attended grade school and high school at Albion, graduating in 1980. Following graduation, Stewart worked for a local concrete company before moving to California where he was employed by a large car dealer as a car salesman and later a cable tv company. He returned to Albion, where he worked for a central pivot company and the local concrete company. In 2012, he moved to York to live with his brother, Bruce.

Services for Susan L. Reeder, 73 were held Monday, July 1, 2024 in Olathe, Kans. Interment was at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery. Susan Lucille Reeder was born on October 24, 1950 in St. Edward, where she grew up on the family farm, and she passed away on June 25, 2024 at the age of 73. Growing up she was active in multiple organizations, including 4-H where she would show livestock and participate in agricultural activities. In 1968 she was even crowned the Boone County 4-H Queen. She also took part in Aksarben and the Nebraska State Fair, showing cattle. She married Cecil Harold Reeder on January 3, 1976 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Albion.

NRD reports rising nitrate levels in groundwater

Nitrate levels in parts of Nebraska, including areas within the Lower Loup Natural Resources District, are on the rise, according to the most recent LLNRD newsletter, Water Matters. The Safe Drinking Water Act requires that nitrate concentration in drinking water does not exceed I 0 milligrams/liter (often cited as IO parts per million, or IO ppm).
