Game night at St Paul Lutheran Church, rural Tilden , will be held Friday, March 8, starting at 5:30 p.m. This event of games, fun, and fellowship was rescheduled from January due to the snow storms.
Nebraskans who would like to vote early for the May 14, 2024, statewide primary election can now submit early voting applications to their county election office. Voters can either download the early voting applications from the Nebraska Secretary of State’s website, or they can request an application from their county election office.
July 17, 1929 — December 29, 2023 Gloria Lou Johnson, 94, of Spring Lake Park, MN, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her three daughters, granddaughter, Alyssa, and grand-hound, Flunter. Gloria was bom in Newman Grove, baptized, confirmed and married at Shell Creek Lutheran Church.
Newman Grove resident Elliott Broberg (center) was honored last week as a 70-year member of American Legion Post 73, Newman Grove. He was presented a 70-year membership certificate and pin by Commander Ivan Herchenbach and Treasurer and Former Adjutant Ray Flood. Elliot served the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, 1949-1953. He served on the destroyer USSYarnall, including two combat tours along the coasts of Korea. Newman Grove’s American Legion Post has been part of the community for nearly 104 years.
A capital campaign for new community facilities at Lindsay is now underway. Theme of the campaign is: “Honoring the Last 100 Years by Building for the Next 100 Years.”
Newman Grove School Board reorganized for the coming year during its meeting Monday night, March 22. Officers re-elected were Jeanie McCloud, president; David Fowlkes, vice president; Eric Stone, secretary; Ginger Buhl-Jorgenson as treasurer, and Christie Wallin as recording secretary.
