Students in the junior classes of St. Edward and Newman Grove high schools had some valuable hands-on training in various fire fighting and rescue activities last Thursday, April 25, at the St. Edward Fire Station. Above, Newman Grove firefighter and teacher Brett Miller assists a student in full gear in adjusting the mask for her self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Nine Newman Grove students took part in this training for the first time this year.

Ordinances confirming the sale of two lots in the new Fowlkes Second Addition to Newman Grove were confirmed by ordinances adopted at the Newman Grove City Council meeting Thursday night, April 11. One lot, Lot 5 Block B, was sold to James and Janell Wyant.

Four Newman Grove churches celebrating 150th anniversaries

Four Newman Grove churches -- Immanuel Zion Lutheran, Newman Grove Methodist, Shell Creek Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran are celebrating the 150th anniversary of their founding in 2024. This Sunday, April 14, will be the collective day of celebration for all four churches founded in 1874.

Basement for first home in new addition

A basement has been completed for the first home in the Fowlkes Second Addition to Newman Grove. The new home of Jim and Janell Wyant will be installed on this structure soon. Two lots have now been sold. All infrastructure has been installed, with only some seeding and work on the drainage pond remaining to be completed.
